Are you clicking onto this because you want to let go of a job or interest to pursue your true passion and need advice on how to be okay to do so…
Well then I am glad you are here because I will be sharing my 3 major tips on how to be okay with letting go!
Letting go is one of the hardest things we have to do in life. Whether that’s letting go of a relationship, friendship, addiction, hobbies etc…
Letting go of a job is definitely one of the hardest things to do and something that takes us time to be okay with.
Letting go of a job can be hard because of many reasons…
But, I am here to tell you that it’s okay to feel this way and that everything will be fine!
and I AM NOT encouraging anyone to leave a job they love! But, obviously if you are here reading this then you are already not feeling happy anymore and want to learn how to let go.
Sooo…
lets get to the tips that will help you be okay with letting go!…
Tip #1
Knowing that wanting change is okay
Often the hardest part of wanting to let go of a job is because we are afraid of change.
There are some who are excited about change and it’s also normal to be afraid of change.
Maybe your job has given you some amazing memories or maybe you have worked so hard to get this job and so you don’t want to accept change because you think the time you put into this job has gone into waste…
Let me tell you that it’s okay if you want change.
It’s okay if you have grown apart from this job and is now wanting to experience something new.
I can honestly relate because I went to college for 3 years for a program that I wanted to pursue since I was in high school. I put so much thought, money and effort for this program because it was a career path that I wanted to follow since I was younger.
But, as time went on my goals changed because I was changing. I was so upset with my self for wanting to change my career path because I felt like I wasted so much time by just simply wanting to change my mind.
Then I came to the realization that when we continue to grow, its normal that our passions/goals are not the same from when we were younger.
Just look at yourself now and see how much you’ve changed throughout the years. You can probably even see a huge difference within the past year…
Can we really blame ourselves that we want something else, that we want a change and that we want to follow a different path??
NO, we can’t blame ourselves because it’s normal!
We can’t think that we are wasting time because we have to experience all these different jobs and pursue many different interests of ours to only let it lead us to our true destiny.
Without experiencing all of this, we wouldn’t know what truly makes us happy and what we truly want to be on this earth.
So if you 100% feel like you need and want change. If you 100% feel as if your tired of not pursing your dream then simply just be thankful of the experience you had and move on.
Go chase your dreams even if that means having to make a big change.
Tip #2
Knowing That Life is too Short
I know that everyone already knows this and hears it all the time…
But, its something that we need to think about all the time.
Especially when letting go of a job.
If you want to pursue your dream NOW and it’s all you think about…
What are you waiting for?
I definitely know for sure its because you have all these excuses and fears in your head because I have done that.
However, we can’t live life afraid. We never know when it’s going to be too late to pursue our dreams.
When you’re older, you don’t want to look back at your life and have regrets.
When you’re older you want to be living the life that you dreamed about when you were younger!
So it’s time to let go of the fears and finally start living the life you love before it’s too late.
Tip #3
Knowing that there’s other Opportunities waiting for you
When we are wanting to leave a job, one thing that always holds us back is the thought of maybe there won’t be any other opportunities.
We often believe the job we have is the best job we’re ever going to get or think it’s the only job we will ever get…
That’s not true!
Think about it, do you only think that way because you actually truly believe that you aren’t capable of doing better OR…
did people from your job make you believe in that statement?…
Simply because they don’t want you leaving?
Sometimes we often let people get into our head and allow them to control us…
If you truly believe that you’re worth more than the job you’re currently working at and also believe that pursuing your dream would make you happier then don’t listen to what others have to say.
Nothing can go wrong if you’re pursing what makes you the happiest!
I remember when I worked in a clothing store, I decided after a while that I wanted to leave to pursue a passion of mine because simply I knew I was worth more than working min wage. Working min wage would be no problem if I was enjoying my job but I wasn’t. It was a negative environment that I wanted to get out of.
Then one day one of managers tried to convince me to stay by saying ” you will never get another job like this ” and also said ” you will never get hired anywhere else “.
It shocked me that she would ever say those things to me because I worked hard in that store and gave my 100% every shift.
Before mentioning that I wanted to leave, she even told me that I was one of the best and most hard working employees at the store…
It confused me how she can say that I am not capable of working somewhere else, when she knew I could.
But, I just realized she just wanted me to stay because it would benefit her. Whenever I worked with her, I did the most and did all the heavy duty tasks while she just relaxed and did the smaller duties. She knew if I left she would have more responsibilities and so she said anything she could to make me stay.
The smartest thing I have done in my life is that I didn’t listen to her.
Even though I was very close to believing it. I stayed strong and told my self that I am worth way more than this.
I ended up still leaving and had so much more time to pursue my dream.
Now, I am working my dream job as a blogger. Where I am the happiest because of many reasons.
So, what I am trying to say after all of this is that, don’t let others get in your way of pursing your dream.
Know your worth and go for what makes you happy.
If you simply want to be happier then that should be enough for you to be okay with letting go.
That’s It!
That’s all the major tips I have for you guys that will helpfully help you feel okay with letting go of your job/ old passion.
Let me know if you want more!
Remember to keep chasing your dreams and to not let anything stop you from creating the life that you love!
xoxo
